ABCD Farm Improves Harvest Efficiency and Accuracy with Avery Weigh-Tronix 3060 Touch Screen Indicator and Field Foreman Grain Cart Software

ABCD Farm, Inc, located in Truman, MN, is a family-owned business that farms 1800 acres of corn and soybeans annually. Since the harvesting of crops is typically performed within a tight window of time for optimal results, it is crucial that these tasks are performed with the highest levels of accuracy and efficiency.

During harvest, ABCD Farm hires additional independent truckers to keep pace with the combine. Truckers are paid per bushel and the rate is based on delivery distance from field to storage. To ensure each load is tracked and weighed accurately, ABCD Farm implemented the Avery Weigh-Tronix touchscreen 3060 indicator with Field Foreman grain cart software. Since this technology collects and stores all the company's harvest data, ABCD Farm can effortlessly manage large quantities of information. The company can track loads and print post harvest delivery reports based on truck and location.

"We integrated the 3060 indicator with our grain cart and added another Avery Weigh-Tronix 640M indicator as a remote in the combine" said Brian Hendricksen, Owner of ABCD Farm, Inc. "This allows the combine operator to know the exact weight of the grain in the cart and simplifies the task of recalibrating our yield monitor, which is done daily."

Mikula Custom Combining Increases Efficiency and Improves Customer Satisfaction with Avery Weigh-Tronix Field Foreman Software

Mikula Custom Combining, located in Chetek, WI, is a father and son custom harvesting business consisting of three combines and a grain cart that covers between 5 and 6,000 acres, harvesting corn and soybeans for multiple customers each fall. As a small company responsible for harvesting thousands of acres every year, high-level productivity and efficiency is key. Therefore, the company needs weighing equipment that provides the accuracy and record keeping capabilities necessary to comply with current insurance requirements and maintain customer satisfaction.

Because Mikula Custom Combining harvests crops for multiple farms, it is critical that all their field records are both correct and complete. The company is responsible for collecting and storing all harvest and weight information for each load, and any missing or incorrect data can lead to errors that impact profitability and customer retention.

"Some harvest days, we will work for several customers in one day, sometimes at the same time or overlapping when running all three machines," said Brian Mikula, Maintenance Technician and Operator at Mikula Custom Combining. "Therefore, we must carefully record all harvest data for each customer, including the field, grain cart load weights, departure time of the delivery truck and the specific destination location(s) of the individual trucks."
